6 hits shy of 3,000 Captain Mediocrity is headed to the Disabled List with a strained calf, sustained exiting the batter’s box last night. In all likelihood, those 6 hits would not have occurred before the Yankees arrived at Wrigley Field in Chicago this weekend based on Jeter’s batting average thus far this season of .260.

Is he hurt? Sure!

Is he dodging his date with history for 2 weeks? Without a doubt! Jeter is Captain Mediocrity for no reason other than he sits on the threshold of 3,000 career hits because he has successfully pulled the wool over management for a long enough period of time. The fact is, given enough at-bats in a stocked lineup, any major league hitter will reach 3,000 hits. Jeter is no dummy, he knows that once he achieves the milestone, that the media in New York, and across America will renew the talk that he is rapidly deteriorating, and should be benched in favor of younger, more productive players. He knows that this is his last chase for glory, and the man who has pulled the wool over the collective Yankee eye for 17 years knows that once this milestone is complete, that his swan song will truly be sung.

Derek Jeter, the Captain of Longevity in Tribute to Mediocrity has been injured running out of the Batter’s Box 6 hits shy of 3,000 career hits. This in all likelihood will send him into Wrigley Field this weekend to achieve this milestone which but for the misplaced loyalty of management he would be well short of having already retired.

According to the Miami Herald, not only did the Miami Heat win the NBA Championship, but they did it in 6 Games last night; and you can buy the Championship apparel at Macy’s. So I guess it’s time for all those Heat-haters to back off since the Dynasty has begun!

Or NOT!!!

I wrote it moments after John Kuester was Fired on June 5th, and now on June 7th, NBA League Sources are reporting that Detroit Pistons greats Isiah Thomas, and Bill Laimbeer on the short list to be the next Head Coach of the storied franchise.  If you feel the need to have someone else tell you what I’ve already told you, than here, here’s my ORIGINAL post, and then ESPN’s report from this evening.

Sources: Isiah Thomas on Pistons’ list

While Knicks fans fret about the possibility of Isiah Thomas returning to New York, theDetroit Pistons are considering Thomas for their vacant head coaching position, according to league sources.

Thomas is not the leading candidate, sources say, but he is on Detroit’s short list along with Mike Woodson, Kelvin Sampson and his former Pistons teammate Bill Laimbeer.

Thomas, currently the head coach at Florida International University, made headlines this past weekend after the Knicks announced on Friday that Donnie Walsh would not return as the club’s president and general manager. Because of Thomas’ close relationship with Knicks owner James Dolan, there was speculation that Thomas could regain control of the Knicks.

Sources close to the Knicks’ situation insist that Thomas will not be re-hired as the team’s president or general manager and Thomas told’s Ian O’Connor on Friday that he has “no desire to return” to the Knicks as president or as Walsh’s replacement.

Thomas served as the New York’s president in a controversial reign from 2003-2008 that left him among the most hated sports figures in recent New York history.

That is not the case, however, in Detroit, where Thomas led the Pistons to back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. Widely regarded as the greatest player in franchise history, the Hall of Famer could return to a club that has suffered through three straight losing seasons.

While Thomas’ performance in the Knicks’ front office left much to be desired, he has enjoyed success as a coach. He led the Indiana Pacers to three consecutive playoff appearances from 2000-2003 and helped develop Jermaine O’NealJalen Rose and Ron Artest into stars. It’s that success with young players that has the Pistons intrigued, according to sources.

In 2002, Thomas led the Pacers to a 34-15 start and was the coach of the Eastern Conference in the All-Star Game. However, the Pacers finished poorly and were eliminated in the first round for the third straight year, leading to Thomas’ firing.

After joining the Knicks as team president, Thomas took over the club’s coaching duties at the start of the 2006-2007 season. Over the next two years, his Knicks finished a disappointing 56-108.

Thomas, sources say, has been longing to return to the NBA. A return to Detroit would serve as a reunion with his close friend and former Hall of Fame backcourt mate, Joe Dumars, the Pistons’ president.

In the biggest twist to TresselGate, Terrelle Pryor has shockingly announced through his Attorney that he will NOT return to Ohio State for his Senior Season this fall. Just as his Head Coach did just last week, Pryor has cast aside his honor, pride, and 5 game suspension. If this doesn’t scream GUILTY, then I don’t know what does. Tressel clearly knew about it all, and Pryor clearly did it ALL. Once his coach, his shield was gone, Pryor was left with no choice but to Scramble from the NCAA into Oblivion.

“In the best interests of my teammates, I’ve made the decision to forgo my  senior year of football at The Ohio State University,” Pryor said in a statement  issued by Columbus lawyer Larry James.

This will also mean that the Ohio State Football Program will make everyone forget about SMU and their pay for play scandal. They’ll also very quickly make everyone say “USC who???”.

As a Michigan fan, I would rather beat OSU at their best, but will gladly enjoy watching them suffer for the next 10-20 years!!! The Governor will not be calling to save them, this Death Penalty will be carried out!!!

Someone call Crash Davis, and call him fast … Bryce Harper is the modern-day Nuke LaLoosh. I don’t care who you are, or who you think you may become … You simply don’t blow a kiss at a Pitcher as you round the bases having just tagged him for a no doubt home run!!! Harper and the Nationals are lucky that he was only brushed back in his next at-bat … he should-be in the clubhouse nursing some bruised ribs at best!!!

And Lose the MULLET!!!

The Pistons under the New Ownership of Tom Gores have Fired Head Coach John Kuester. By all accounts Kuester is a Great person and knowledgable basketball person. However, he has shown an inability to control his players, rather allowing his players to control him. This is why Kuester has now lost his 1st but likely not his last NBA Head Coaching Job.

The task facing Joe Dumars now is to find a replacement for Kuester who will help him and New Owner Tom Gores restore the Pistons to the Glory days of Chuck Daly and Larry Brown, when Championships were a way of life at the Palace. The list will be a short one, and sure to be on it will be 2 of Daly’s Piston legends in the persons of Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer.

Isiah in order to take this job will be required to do 2 things … 1, he must be willing to take direction from Dumars and not be in control of player personnel acquisitions … 2, he must once again gilt the New York Knicks, something he has become well accustomed to doing. His coaching record speaks to his possessing the credentials to rebuild the Pistons …

Laimbeer on the other hand if he’s to have a role, is likely best suited to be the Lead Assistant at this point. Yes he won Championships in the WNBA, but he’s no better than Kuester at this point in his career when it comes to being an NBA Head Coach, and the Pistons need someone with an NBA Head Coaching Resume.

Once again Jim Tressel has stuck is foot in his mouth, this time making a “Guarantee” that he can’t possibly make good on. Outside his residence in front of 200 or so Tressel supporters, the Former Buckeye Coach guaranteed that Ohio State will beat Michigan on November 26th. Seeing as how Tressel has been Fired, and Pryor will likely be declared ineligible along with several other key Buckeyes; this guarantee is as empty as the parking lot of a car dealer after the Pryor family visits!!!

I would have preferred Brady Hoke get to beat Jim Tressel in his first season coaching the Maize’n’Blue; but a Win against the Buckeyes will Always be a Win against the Buckeyes … LET’S GO BLUE!!!

Jim Tressel talks to fans at home

Associated Press

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio — Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel told people at a rally on his front doorstep that he would always be a Buckeye and that the team will beat Michigan again this November.

After a crowd of some 200 people had sung a song disparaging the archrival Wolverines early Saturday evening, Tressel said, “Don’t forget: Nov. 26th we’re going to kick their ass!”

That brought the loudest cheer of the day from the group, which had walked a half mile in 90-degree heat from a rallying point at a nearby park to Tressel’s expansive French Provincial home in this Columbus suburb near campus.

Tressel was forced to resign Monday for his role in covering up his knowledge of his players taking improper benefits from a Columbus tattoo-parlor owner.

Those in the rally cheered, sang the alma mater and held up signs that said, “You’re in Our Prayers,” “We Support You, Jim!” and “We Love You, Coach Tressel.”

Tressel and his wife, Ellen, posed for dozens of pictures, shook hands and thanked those in attendance.

He had memorably guaranteed that the Buckeyes would beat archrival Michigan at an Ohio State basketball game shortly after he had taken the job in January 2001.

Saturday’s rally was reminiscent of those held for two past Ohio State coaches. After Woody Hayes was fired for punching a Clemson player late in the 1978 Gator Bowl, hundreds of fans came to his residence to thank him.

The same thing happened after Hayes’ successor, Earle Bruce, was fired late in the 1987 season. Again, a large group of fans and members of the university’s band came to Bruce’s house to serenade him with songs.

Five Ohio State players — including star quarterback Terrelle Pryor — have been suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for accepting improper benefits from a tattoo-shop owner. The NCAA continues to investigate Ohio State, which goes before the NCAA’s committee on infractions on Aug. 12.

But the fans who walked from Thompson Park didn’t dwell on the negatives.

One fan wore a red, white and blue T-shirt that said, “Jim Tressel For President.”

“We’re going to be Buckeyes for life,” Tressel said, his arm around his wife. “What’s that old saying? Buckeye born and bred, a Buckeye ’til I’m dead.”

The crowd cheered when he finished.

He showed no emotion, thanking the fans as they departed after 20 minutes or so.

Are we really to believe that Jim Tressel and Ohio State as a whole didn’t know their Star Quarterback was driving his “test cars” on a Suspended License?!?

Are we then also to believe that the Dealership that gave him these cars, including the one with Temporary Plates he drove to Monday night’s team meeting; that they never asked to see his license. Had they done this as they would with any regular driver, they to would have seen he did not possess a valid license to drive their cars. But of course since they swear they’ve done nothing preferential for Pryor, I’m headed to Columbus with my Suspended License ASAP to take advantage of this $0 purchase opportunity without a valid license!!!

Pryor’s Driver’s License Suspended, Records Show

NBC4 has learned that OSU star QB Terrelle Pryor has been driving with a suspended license – and without driving privileges.

COLUMBUS, Ohio —NBC4 has learned that OSU star QB Terrelle Pryor has been driving with a suspended license – and without driving privileges.

NBC4 first reported Tuesday that Pryor’s driver’s license was suspended two weeks ago. But NBC4video showed him driving as he left the Ohio State University’s Woody Hayes Athletic Center Monday. He was driving the black Nissan 350Z which has now become part of the focus of an NCAA investigation.

It was unclear Tuesday if Pryor had been granted driving privileges, but the Franklin County Clerk of Courts told NBC4 Wednesday that Pryor was not given driving privileges.

For example, a person who loses their license can request and be granted driving privileges to and from work.

Documents from the BMV indicated Pryor’s license was suspended for no proof of insurance and is in effect through August 18.

He was stopped earlier this year for running a stop sign, last year for traveling 94 mph in a 65 mph zone and two years ago, for traveling 99 mph in a 65 mph zone.

The focus of the NCAA investigation, however, is on the vehicles that Pryor has driven while at Ohio State and whether he received extra benefits because he’s a football player.

Driving with a suspended license is a first-degree misdemeanor in Ohio punishable by a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Sources tell NBC4 Sports that nine current Ohio State football players are being interviewed Wednesday by the NCAA as part of the ongoing investigation. These are the current players who were named in the recent article by Sports Illustrated.
